So it’s time yall. I’ve got to get this eating under control. Not only to lose weight, but to get my overall health back together. Any time I’ve lost control of my eating habits in the past, my body has let me know: constant headaches, mind fogginess, bloating, etc. Ive gotten to the point where I have a headache every day, and I refuse to take medicine for it.
It’s not salt that gets me. In fact, I don’t use salt at all. My problem is the sweets. I’ve gotten to the point where I crave sweets at every meal- sometimes instead of a meal. Sometimes more than one type of sweet. Sometimes… well, you get the idea. Currently, I have one candy bar in my night stand, and candy in my work drawer. I’ve got a serious problem.
What makes this situation worse is that everyone in my family has diabetes or high blood pressure. I’ve been showing the symptoms of being pre-diabetic since I attended FSU year ago. You think all of this would be enough for me to stop? Nawp. I’ve been the queen of yo yo dieting for some years now, and it seems that I haven’t wanted to give up my crown… until now.
I heard about the 22 Day Revolution like the rest of the world through Beyonce’ ’s announcement on Good Morning America. You can watch the announcement below.
I have believed strongly in the benefits of a plant based diet for awhile now, and have been trying to mimic that lifestyle as much as possible over the past few years- I’ve been vegetarian for about 6 years, I don’t use salt, I rarely cook with butter, I am a sometimes egg eater at this point, and I only drink almond milk. But where the sweets, carbs, and cheese come in, I am weak.
The 22 Day Revolution challenges participants to eat a plant based diet for 22 days in hopes of dramatic changes taking place. Beyonce has partnered with he founder to offer a vegan meal delivery service after she and her husband Jay-Z tried the diet. Beyonce credits this lifestyle to her killer svelte body she’s been rocking lately. I see you Bey.
Anyway, I’m going to give this vegan lifestyle a try for awhile. Read more about it here. I’ll be documenting the journey with weekly updates on my Youtube channel (click here to be taken to that or you can always click the “Videos” tab in the menu at the top of the page), and also updating here on the blog once the challenge is complete.
It’d be amazing if some of you all would join in with me, even if it’s while on a different type of challenge. Let me know if you’re interested!
