Bob Box Braids, A Protective Summer Hairstyle You Need to Try

Bob Box BraidsHey guys! Last week was rough. I started my 3x a week chiropractor visits, and I had to purchase a new car due to my car accident last month [read about that crazy story here]. During that time I also took a week off to allow my body to relax, and kind of detox from the events that were happening around me. I am not kidding when I say last week was… A LOT.

Anyway, on Thursday I decided to try out a hair style that I had been eyeing for awhile now: bob box braids. I first saw the style here and fell in love. The bob style would allow for me to rock braids, without the heaviness (and heat) of long weave.

I think what initially drew me in was the versatility. With a shoulder length style, the sky is truly the limit when it comes to looks- up, down, pinned back, you name it, you can probably wear it.

I was nervous that my hair would be too long (currently my hair is a little past armpit length) for the style. However, with the way it was braided, I easily pull of the longer bob look. I must admit, both my hair stylist and I were a little nervous about it in the beginning though.

After about 5 days of wearing the style I am in LOVE! I forgot how good it felt to have air hitting my scalp. I am able to add moisture to my hair every morning with ease, and I can do just about any style I could imagine- although, my favorite seems to be the half up, half down look.

This style is definitely one you should consider trying this Summer. Check out some pics of my hairstyle below.

I love box braids on other people. Unfortunately I don’t care for them on myself although I wish I did because I love them! They look great on you, I’m sure you are enjoying the low maintenance during the heat.

That’s how I felt before as well. But I saw enough pictures of the style that I loved that gave me the motivation to try it out. Now I’m in love.

Thank you for the compliment! I love being able to get up in the morning, add a little moisture to the braids, and go!
